Broken by his wife walking out on their family, Chelsea’s father ignores his responsibilities. Between cheer costs, grocery bills, electricity, and other regular financial burdens, it’s no surprise when a cut-off notice arrives in the mail. Chelsea knows it’ll be up to her to keep the lights on.
With the deck stacked against her, Chelsea decides to bet their future on the dubious poker knowledge she learned from her father before he gave up on parenting. Nervous but determined, Chelsea heads to a casino with very little security and wins big. Thrilled by her win, she’s quickly drawn to the casino again and again. She risks it all, especially when the attractive, young pit boss takes an interest in her.
Chelsea’s life, no longer filled with cheerleading, school, and hanging out with her friends, is now consumed by smoky casino floors and the ups and downs of a gambler’s life. True gamblers know when to fold, but Chelsea keeps betting long after her needs are met. The complicated web of lies soon begins to spin out of control, threatening to expose everything. Will someone see through her bluff?
Chelsea’s story surrounds in gambling world where she has to find money to help her father out in pay bills in house and school. She uses her technique in playing poker before with her father and uses it as a gaming strategy in casino. Digging to her more, she met a guy that totally turns her world around too. She’s been eager to get money and explore with this guy in underage teenager.
Wow, this book is mind blowing. I mean, this is a really good start of reading this book and I absolutely loving it so far. First, I really don’t know how to play poker but once I read this book, it is really excites me and I think I learn some of points on how to play in the Casino. Second, the thrill for the character getting in my veins when she starts playing and I can see that playing poker is addictive and I AM TOTALLY ADDICTIVE READING THIS BOOK!
So by all mean in the story, I frankly love it. Well I thought it will bore me since it is gambling and I don’t know much about it. But I dig in to the story, I learn a lot. Julie Dill totally write it beautifully for the young readers that gambling hidden for money, but she’s also giving us warning that gambling is pretty addictive since you can’t stop it once you started playing it. I actually love how Chelsea turned out in the end of the story, she knows somehow that she will be stable, one way or the other, she can totally escape what she and her dad dealing with.
As for the romance, I didn’t look much to it because I am more focused on Chelsea’s gambling story but when she started knowing the guy in the Casino, I already know that she got this thing that she wanted to know him more. I got more giggles and irritation and of course, heartache a little, but still I know her romance will never affect one way or the other.
Overall, I absolutely loving it. I will probably look for a physical copy of this book as publish and I’m excited that everyone will read it!
